A proposed oil pipeline through South Dakota had some local conservationists hitting the pavement on Thursday.
Protesters showed up with signs and a mock oil spill at Founders Park to argue against the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline.
Protesters believe the pipeline will add pollution to the prairies. They also say it doesn’t make sense to invest money in a non– renewable resource.
They push the use of renewable resources such as wind, hydro, and solar power.
Chaz Jewett of the National Wildlife Federation says “the earth is powered by wind and the sun. I think we could power ourselves through that.”
The proposed Keystone Pipeline would run from Canada to Texas, via Montana, Western South Dakota and Nebraska.
